Emma Gallagher (Garden City, Section 8) has recently set two NY State Girls 7th-Grade Records ... On Feb 12 (at the Section 8 Class Meet), Emma set a new 1000 Meter Record of 3:00.13 (old record was Brianna Welch's 3:03.8 in 2005) ... on Jan 31 (at her Conference Meet) she set a 7th-Grade 600 Meter Record of 1:39.4 (old record was 1:39.7 by Aaronda Watson in 1984) ... Update: on Feb 24 (at Section State Qual), Emma lowered the 1000m time to 3:00.08

Karmen Auble (Warsaw Central, Section 5) raised her newly established NY State Girls 8th-Grade Pole Vault Record of 9-07 (previous record was 9-06 by Lindsey Rosales of Washingtovnville) to 9-09 at an All-Comers Meet at Syracuse's Manley Fieldhouse on feb 20, 2010 (results link to following on the Syracuse Chargers web-site).

Mackenzie Carter (Fayetteville-Manlius) is currently wearing an ankle-cast and out for the reminder of the indoor season (from Neil Kerr, Syracuse Post Standard) ... Mackenzie was warming-up for the 4x400 Relay at the CNYCL Meet (doing a stride-out) and collided with a spectator who was running across the track; she suffered a painful ankle injury ... Mackenzie will be attending the University of Washington next fall.

"With the temperature in Manlius hovering around 10 degrees on Friday, running coach Bill Aris of Fayetteville-Manlius gathered his runners together outside his office.

"Because it's so cold, we're not going to have a real strenuous workout today," Aris said. "Instead, I want you just to go out for a one-hour run. We'll have a more strenuous and longer practice on Saturday."
