How To Read the Table Information: The number following the name is the school grade for the 2019 XC season. The "Class" in parentheses pertains to the 2019 XC season.  The XC data listed below the name are, in order, the race name, race date, place, actual race time, and speed rating (higher is faster).  Selected track data are also listed for most runners ... Girls XC performance database and Girls track & field performance database are available on separate web-pages.

 In 2018 and 2017, Katelyn Tuohy had the best XC seasonal performances by any female harrier in the history of US high school cross country ... Katelyn won back-to-back NXN National championships with impressive performances ... she shattered course records at many top venues ... she had three speed ratings in the 170s in 2017 and topped that with five speed ratings in the 170s in 2018 (including a 177 rating when shattering the course record at Holmdel Park in New Jersey)... She was undefeated and typically won races by large margins, and was the Overall XC Runner-of-the Year in New York in 2018 and 2017.

Katelyn has set multiple NY State & National Class Records during both Indoor and Outdoor Track over the past two years ... During indoor track, she ran the 3000 meters in 9:01.81 at the Dr. Sanders Invite and won the New Balance 2-Mile in 9:51.05.

Katelyn Tuohy enters the 2019 season as the top-rated runner in the Nation ... It will be interesting to see her performance level this coming season.

 Claire Walters was the top finisher for the FM Girls at NXN Nationals (5th-place for the second straight year and the #3 overall returning runner from NXN Nationals) ... Speed rating of 156 at NXN Nationals and three more in the 150s ... As can be seen below, Claire performed remarkably well in her previous years of XC ..... Set major track PRs at 3000m (9:36.31) and 1500m (4:33.50), and an excellent 4:43.34 1600m relay split at Penn Relays ... showed improved speed at 800m (2:15.94 relay split) ... Claire Walters enters the 2019 season as a top national harrier.

 Brooke Rauber was the NY State Sophomore Runner-of-the-Year in XC (she was the Freshman and the 8th-Grade Runner-of-the-Year in prior seasons) ... Brooke is the three-time defending State Class D champion and the top-rated Class D runner in NY State ... Finished an excellent 6th at NXN Nationals for the second straight year (and is the #4 returning runner from NXN Nationals).

Brooke set the National Freshmen Steeplechase Record in 2018  (6:45.34) and lower her Steeplechase PR in 2019 (6:41.95) and finished 2nd at New Balance Nationals (to Taylor Ewert) ... Again showed improved speed during Track and set PRs at 3000m (9:33.67), 800m (2:13.13) and 400m (58.51) ... Enters the 2019 season as a top-10 national harrier.

 Sarah Connelly demonstrated continued major XC improvement in 2018 ending in a very good 30th-place finish at NXN Nationals ... She is the defending State Class B champion ...... Once again, Sarah was nicely improved during track and set PRs at all distances ... Won the State Outdoor 1500m title with a PR (4:31.11), and the following week, finished 2nd to Foot Locker champion Sydney Masciarelli at the New Balance National 2-Mile (10:22.06) ... Sarah popped a fast 1600m DMR relay split at Indoor Nationals (4:53.62) and set her 3000m PR (9:42.89) in finishing 3rd to Katelyn Tuohy and Brooke Rauber at Indoor State Champs.

Sarah Connelly is now one of the elite high school distance runners at the National Level.

 Mary Hennelly was the 2015 NY State 8th-Grade Runner-of-the-Year in cross country ... she was injured throughout the 2016 XC season ... came back nicely in 2017 and qualified for NXN Nationals ... Last year, she won 5 invitational races including a varsity race at Manhattan, and then qualified for Foot Locker Nationals.

Once again, Mary had very good performances during track including the Steeplechase (6:43.35 PR, 4th States and then 6th at Nationals), 1500m (4:35.68) and 1000m (2:55.29).

Ella had consistent XC speed ratings in the mid-to-upper 130s including a season best at NXN Nationals where she helped the Saratoga team finish 6th (she was 45th overall at NXN Nationals, but 13th for team runners) ... With the graduation of Kelsey Chmiel, Ella will lead a very good Saratoga team.

Ella's Track performances were impressive indicating additional improvement ... Major PRs at all distances including the 3000m (9:40.77 for 3rd at States), 2-Mile (10:27.77 for 8th at New Balance Nationals) and 1500m (4:35.06) ... In between States and New Balance Outdoor Nationals , Ella finished 10th at the Freihofer's 5K Run for Women in Albany with a good time (17:14.5).

Phoebe White was coming off an injury 
entering last year's XC season that restricted her summer training ... It 
greatly affected her early season performance levels, but she regained form and 
performed very decently ... The FM girls raced above expectations at NXN 
Nationals and finished 4th overall ... Phoebe was the their #2 finisher 
and #21 overall amongst all team runners at NXN.

Once again, Phoebe ran very well in track ... Set PRs at 3000m (9:56.01) and 
1-Mile (4:55.46, 9th at Millrose Games) 
... Phoebe White and Claire Walters are an outstanding top duo for 
the FM Girls' team.

2019, and Elizabeth is the top-rated Class C runner entering the XC 
season.

Haleigh Morales entered the 2017 XC season 
following an injury, but performed very nicely and that continued throughout the 
2018 XC season with some improvement ... finished a good 10th at States in the 
loaded Class A race (129 speed rating). 

Haleigh performed nicely during the Track 
seasons with good performances at 3000m (10:06.43), 1500m (4:44.24) 
and the Steeplechase (6:54.83, 2nd at State Quals) ... Haleigh Morales and
Katelyn Tuohy are a 
powerful lead duo for the North Rockland XC team.

Grace Kaercher was the #3 runner for the FM 
team that finished 4th at NXN Nationals (finished 93rd overall, but 45th 
team-wise).
Grace set PRs at all 
distances during Track including the 3000m (10:25.73) ... What 
impressed me to most was her 4x800 relay leg at NY States where she given the 
responsibility of anchoring of the FM team ... she got the baton in 2nd-place, 
took the lead fairly quickly and held on gamely for FM to win (9:04.69) over 
Shenendehowa (9:05.54) ... her relay split (2:15.15) was nearly 4 seconds 
faster than she had ever run before ... An improved XC season is very possible!

performances every year in both XC and Track ... In XC last year, she had three 
speed ratings in the upper 120s and two wins at invitational races ... finished 
a good 18th at Foot Locker Northeast.
Once 
again, Sierra set PRs at all 
distances in track including the 3000m (10:16.41), 1500m (4:35.63, 
2nd at indoor States and then 5th at outdoor States) and 800m (2:10.82, 
1st at Eastern States) ... Could show major XC improvement this coming season.

demonstrated over the course of her Indoor & Outdoor Track seasons.

Kathryn dropped her 3000m PR to 
9:50.03 when finishing 6th at Outdoor States ... The following week, 
Kathryn finished 13th at New Balance Nationals in the 5000m (very 
good time of 17:19.45 under warm-humid conditions) ... Some major 
performance-level improvements could happen this coming XC season.

CLASS A

Katelyn Tuohy is the top-rated runner in the Nation ... She is the two-time
defending NXN Nationals Champion and enters 2019 as the #1 harrier in NY and
the US ... Claire Walters has finished 5th at NXN Nationals the past two years
and in the top 25 at NXN Nationals the last four years ... Jenna Schulz has
finished 22nd and 19th at NXN Nationals the past two years.

Mary Hennelly is returning to top form and is a major runner to watch this coming
season along with the very talented Sarah Trainor ... Look for Phoebe White to
return to top form as well.

The two younger runners, Ella Kurto and Karrie Baloga should be watched because
they are capable of excellent performances ... Class A is once again loaded with
top talent.

Elizabeth Lucason has been a top runner since 7th-grade and now drops from Class B
to Class C to become the #1-rated Class C runner entering 2019 ... The other girls
profiled are not that far behind and could make Class C very interesting.

The South Lewis girls are moving up from Class D to Class C, but both may be capable
of becoming the top Class C runner (Lexi Bernard and Hannah Ielfield).
