The next 5 profiles are the top 5 returning Bethlehem girls from the NXN Nationals race where Bethlehem finished a very good 11th nationally ... Since Bethlehem will be the top New York team entering the 2024 XC season, I wanted to see all 5 profiles together ... It should be noted that East Aurora could have something to say about the top NY team come NXR New York time.

CLASS A

Class A returns 13 runners who had individual speed ratings of 130 or higher
... 16 Class A runners are profiled above (including 5 Bethlehem girls).

Zariel Macchia enters the 2023 XC season as the top-rated Class runner A and the
top-rated overall runner in NY State ... Macchia has the highest individual speed
rating (159) of all runners which she achieved at the USATF U20 Championship 6K
a little over a month after finishing 17th at Foot Locker Nationals.

Lillie Bogdan has the next highest individual speed rating and may be capable of
challenging for the top spot based on some excellent track PR performances ...
Tsadia Bercuvitz is a definite runner to watch this coming season.

Other talented Class A runners seem capable up stepping-up and challenging for a
podium position at the State Class A race.

Bethlehem (11th at NXN Nationals last year) is returning girls with season-
best speed ratings of 131, 130, 130, 128 (plus a 5K track of about 138), 125,
107 and 105 ... these numbers suggest Bethlehem could do well at NXN again.

CLASS B

Like last year, Sophia McInnes enters the 2024 XC season as the top-rated Class B
runner in NY State ... she was 3rd at Federations, 2nd at NXR New York and 42nd
at NXN Nationals ... and is the defending Class B Champion.

There are four other returning Class B runners with a speed rating of 129 to 136
... Cali Gabrielson was 2nd at last year's Class B race, and Sloan Wasserman was
3rd making them serious podium contenders.

I expect others will step-up and contend.

CLASS C

Emilia O'Leary is the defending Class C Champion and the top speed-rated returning
Class C runner ... and that makes Emilia O'Leary the favorite entering the upcoming
XC season.

Caitlin Thomas finished 2nd at last year's State meet and then followed that up with
a very nice 13th at Federations (and ran well during track) ... Emma Lewis had two
speed ratings in the 130s (but was not 100% during the late XC season), and she ran
well during track.

Kirsten Melnick and a trio of East Aurora girls are potential podium contenders for
the State meet.

East Aorora could be a very good team State-wide this coming season ... Season-best
speed ratings for returning East Aurora runners are 138-127-126-123-105-95 ... East
Aurora typically has improved and new quality runners each year ... and this is
something to be watched.

CLASS D

Anna Furman and Andrea Sassatelli finished 2nd and 3rd, respectively, at last year's
State Class D Meet ... they are also the top speed-rated returning Class D runners.
Both runners have produced good track performances (especially Anna Furman).

I also profiled Violet Bliss above because I think her track performances suggest
a much-improved XC season ... Other runners appear capable of stepping-up and
running well.
